Michelle is a wife, mother and environmental scientist with a heart for public service. She co-manages a busy household that includes a husband of ten years, Justin, and three fun-loving children, Belle, Theo and Arthur so she knows how deeply traffic, having a safe place to live, affordable housing, healthcare and childcare impact the families of our district.

She teaches her children to dream big while making a big difference and she shows them how to practically live this out with her own work. She recently worked as a Community Organizer for Planned Parenthood South Atlantic fighting for reproductive freedom for all in South Carolina. Michelle continues model initiative, hope and service by leading in various areas in our community, including:

  • 3rd Vice Chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party

  • Commissioner of Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission

  • Member of the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce (CMCC) Regional Housing Committee

  • Member the Charleston Chapter of the Chamber of Mothers

  • Network Member of the Charleston Area Justice Ministry

  • Graduate of the CMCC Civic Leadership Academy

  • 2022 Presidential Volunteer Service Award Recipient

Michelle is committed to solutions that put our families first and work for everyone. As the daughter of a (now retired) Army Lieutenant Colonel, she knows that real solutions require organization, collaboration, discipline  and accountability.

Michelle graduated from Towson University with a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science and a minor in Meteorology. She has worked for the MITRE Corporation in McLean, VA as an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist. Before that, she was an Environmental Noise Specialist at the U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center in Maryland. She has both experience as a stay at home mom and as a working mom and she knows first hand that access to childcare, reasonable commutes, safe neighborhoods and quality education are essential for families to thrive.
